Grenaded the SEI on Travis yesterday afternoon about 15 miles down river from my launch. I'm looking to replace it with an OEM like I should have done 8 months ago when this happened. I will be using my warranty to get a replacement and then selling the SEI to help fund the repair. Just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone had any leads.

Thanks

Torque master should have a fat shaft. First generation sucks. I ate 3 of them. You will also need new studs. They are longer for the torque master and sport master units.

I have a spare stock lower unit that you could add the torque tab to. That is the only real difference if you want the small shaft.

Well, honestly I want to put on the new Gen2 TM with the fat shaft and improved bearings.......but they run $5600 and have the same 1yr warranty.

Did yours break? If so, do you need a loaner until you get one? If so, you can borrow one of mine. I wouldn't recommend a first gen tm to anybody. Are you surfacing your prop?
The reason to get a torque master over a stock case is the wedge made into the skeg. This is to offset the "crabbing" effect caused by raising your motor so high only half the prop is in the water.
Are you doing this? If not, a stock will work just as well.

I run my motor about 4" below pad. This hull likes it a little deeper than most. I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to.....I just want it to be RIGHT, Dependable and safe to turn 75mph @6100 up and down the lake with a heavy load. I'm no Merc mechanic.....so I don't have a clue the difference between sportsmaster, servicemaster, fleetmaster, Gen1 TM, Gen2 TM.........it's all greek to me man.

Sport master is for racing. If the boat runs less than 80 you don't need a sport master and, in fact, it will slow you down. The torque master is a little beefier than a standard unit, aka fleetmaster, and it comes with a wedged skeg to offset the crabbing effect from a surfacing prop. The generation 2 torque master is a beast with a stronger case and the same carrier as the sport master. The generation one is garbage.

The sport master is the bare aluminum pointy lower unit that you have seen on my boat and my dad's triton. The torque master is the one that looks like a normal unit but it is painted silver. The 2nd gen tm is also silver but has a square back and a weird wing on the front. The internals on the torque and sport master are the same now, first gen they were different.

too many "masters", now I'm confused
Wong fei hung was a famous kung fu master.
A master card is not a visa.
The original star wars trilogy has been digitally remastered.
I make jigs and worms so some call me the master of baiting......or something like that.
The nice room in a house is the master bedroom and it has a master bath.
Your brakes use a master cylinder.
Sho-nuff, the shogun of Harlem, is the master.

Is this the real longshot? Just had to ask as the crap spewing from your keyboard reminds me of the fake one and makes me somewhat miss him. LOL! #bringbackthefakelongshot

Yes Grant, this is the real long_shot. The fake one would have mentioned how fast his stratos is and how many 15 pounders will fit in his live well at one time. :)

I feel your pain Chris, grenaded mine last month. What size is the Pro XS?

Not sure what hull you're running but mine loves the surface drive setup so I went with a Sporty 20" 1.75 gears.
