South Austin Bass club fished on Travis Sunday 02/28/11
8 teams - 16 anglers
5 teams had full limits -10 fish per boat
63 fish brought to the scales
Big bass was 5.12lbs and a pretty fish

Fished 6:30am to 3:00pm out of Pace bend

Fish were caught all over the lake on everything - they were just biting so good.

I brought my 11 year old son who is now my regular partner and we had a fantastic day. We both weighed in five black bass. He culled twice and learned the importance of fish care.

I could not be more proud of my boy and the angler he has become.

If you have a beginning angler now is the time to fish Travis.

We got two more new members at the ramp.

If you enjoy a little competative bass fishing in a team format and would like to do it inexpensively $15.00 per tourny and pretty much local (except for a two day tournament to fork in April this year) think about giving us a try.

We fish the last Sunday of the month through the whole year except April (two day), Nov. and Dec. because of holidays. easy to set your schedule

We meet the first Monday of the month at Cherry Creek Catfish 7:30pm.

I caught my bass mid lake in slews in 2-8 ft of water on texas rigged flukes as did my son. Water temp was 59.5. Biggest went 3lbs for us.

SABC is a fun little club, we have anglers ranging from 11-86 years of age. Its super cheap and just a flat out fun group of people to fish with.

The cooliest thing about our club is you get to fish with your partner of choice every tournament.

You each fish for a 5 bass limit, but the boat total is what takes the money. So its really a team event and atmosphere.

We also pay out big bass pots.

We caught all of our fish on jig and craw in 2-8ft just inside the pockets.

Im 15 and i've been looking for "better" fishing places around austin. I grew up in south Texas fishing the bays and local lakes. I've always wanted to go bass fishing out on Travis on a Boat, never had the Chance. I've done well fishing the shore catching my biggest at 6.5. If there are any Fishing Partners or something that i could get into for tournaments or anything, i would appreciate the knowledge. Good post, thanks!
