Started off around 7:30am looking for some schooling/top water action to no real avail. Hit the jig early around some docks and never put it down. Had a nice limit by 9:15am, about 11 pounds, picking up about 10 fish total before getting off the water at 10am. Nice to see the fish cooperating for a change. Most of the fish seemed to be keying on big rock.

Nice catch... I went out on Sat and blew it. Just alot of dinks and never could established a pattern in the gale force winds from the south. I have been catching fish on the docks later in the day on jigs. Usually they are keepers to 3 lbs; however occaionally I'll catch a 10 inch Gaud on big jig. Did lose about 3-4 lbs fish at the end of the trip on a jig nearly a lighted dock. The deeper docks are a good pattern on Travis.

When ya'll fish docks and then mention deeper docks -- are ya'll pitching under and letting it go all the way down? There are some really deep docks in Travis, have a hard time getting my brain to say let it go all the way down.

Just getting into Jig fishing and looking for some pointers..

Thx

Deep docks - I have caught bass down to 50 feet in travis. 30-35 feet is not unusual. try pulling up to dock and work around slow just jiging up and down on bottom around the dock - they are there. worm or jig :D

You can never really be quite sure what guys mean when they say they are catching fish on a jig under deep docks. While you can catch them on the bottom in some really deep water 45, 50, even 60+ft, I'm sure there are a number of guys who are swimming their jig to get suspended fish under the dock...they just decide to omit that small detail in their report ;). I catch more fish suspended on docks at Travis than I do on the bottom. Mostly because of the fact that the docks on Travis are floating docks and they don't have supports that go all the way to the bottom.
