Fight fire with fire...sounds like this Salvinia is nasty stuff, introduce Giant Salvinia to LA, let the grass carp do their job on the Salvinia, shift their focus to one area of the lake and maybe, just maybe some of the millfoil, hydrilla and reeds can have a chance to grow back. Just spit-ballin here...

Spread byboat trailer...
So who towed their boat to Central/South America? Didn't drain it or make sure the trailer was dry and didn't have Salvinia hanging all over it?
TPWD=Dumbasses!

Jay, I was told by a game warden that a teacher brought it back from vacation to show his class. After the show and tell, he released the plant into an east Tx lake where it took over.

A friend of mine who works at the exotic fish store in Austin has told me giant Sylvania hasn't been commonly kept as an aquarium plant for a couple decades now. The trailer theory isn't so far fetched considering Sylvania is about as easy to get stuck on your trailer as duckweed when the leaflets are still small and recently divided. It's also been all over Louisiana and parts of east Texas for a while.

Your right it's all a conspiracy:p, it's definitely not because boaters and fisherman are the most likely to come in contact and transport invasives. Idk about you but I've never seen a swimmer walk away from a lake with strands of Hydrilla hanging from their trunks, but I can't say the same about boat trailers(E.g Ladybird and Bastrop). Haha, wouldn't consider myself a "Austin sheeple", but conspiracy theorys for the most part bore me. If it isn't just a online forum rant and there is some concern behind it, TPWD even has a Aquatic invasive species specialist who could give you some insight.

Pass the buck, blame someone else. Which makes them both guilty. Typical liberal government response instead of taking some responsibility for their actions!

What were we talking about again? Then again randomly flipping discussion subjects to avoid being wrong could be considered a pretty typical "conservative" response, but I don't particularly care to fully vouch for either ideology. Also don't care to get into faceless political debates on a fishing forum so I'm gonna skedaddle. ;)

Giant Salvinia would not be a problem in Lake Austin right now. You could dump a barge load of it in there and would not be able to find a single piece in a week I bet.
