Fished Town Lake again today. Started off at 6:45, took a pancake break midday and fished again till sundown. Best fishing I've ever had on TL, looking forward to more trips.17 fish total, with a few more lost. All fish with the exception of 3 were under 2 lbs. All but 2 caught on chartruese/watermelon senko by laydowns on bank.

The good 2 in the morning were 4.10 and 4.3. Went back, had a crummy afternoon  except for my PB of 7.6. After that, I didn't care if I caught anything else! Also caught what I think is a spotted bass, or guadalupe. I didn't know if there are spots in TL, but it definitely wasn't a typical largemouth, and didn't look like the guads i've caught. Feel free to share opinions.

*sorry, can't seem to download from photobucket right now. i'll put them up in the future if I can.

Awesome report. Thanks for posting! Look forward to the pictures, especially the new PB. Congrats!

TL does have spotted bass. I've caught a good number of them drop shotting bridge pilings when current is flowing.

Care to share what part of the lake you were fishing?

thanks, pond prowler. it's funny, i caught that spot on my first cast to a bridge column underneath s. first. I caught the others all over the place today. I dropped off at i 35, drifted west to s. first and back. the biggest concentration of fish were between congress and 35 on the north side. later dropped at austin high and went east to lamar and back. for the most part, fishing the laydowns has been pretty barren, but here and there there have been some good fish.

Yea I gotta go with what i know. I don't have a depth finder, so i'm not confident fishing over depth changes that may or may not be there. Good luck out there. if you see me(i'm in a tan old towne yak), give a holler.

Do you guys use a small anchor when fishing LBL? Last time we went the current made it difficult to stay fishing where you wanted so I assume one needs a small anchor to hold the spot.

Dragging your feet thru the water must feel good on these hot days.
