(Posting in Black Bass Fishing Reports because of the many links to fishing reports below.)

The reason for this post is because apparently Hubbs and I are in BIG trouble with a small group of anglers for disclosing the TOP SECRET concept of using launchers on Lake Bastrop. We actually received a phone call today from someone who asked us to contact Patrick (The German) and have him remove the photo showing a launcher tied on. Oh, we're also supposed to tell Patrick to delete the fact that we caught 101 bass.

To those responsible for today's phone call:
  • Launchers on Bastrop with a Pet spoon, fluke, grub, or tornado IS NOT A FRIGGING SECRET. Below are some of the links to posts on this particular forum regarding launchers on Bastrop. Other fishing forums also have dozens of posts about it and, like on ABF, they go back for YEARS. It's not a secret concept and it's not a new concept.
  • In none of Patrick's pictures or description is the particular set-up that we used on Sunday.
  • If we receive another phone call on the subject like the one we received today, I can promise you that the next thing I post on this forum is a close-up detailed photo of the exact rig we used on Sunday. I'm not kidding.
Get the picture?

I would like to know who called you? Bastrop schoolies have been getting pounded for years and they don't seem to be any worse for the wear.

I mean I can understand wanting to post this, but shouldn't you have just told this person to get bent?
John, CD received the call and he's a much nicer person than I am. It was from a guy who said he'd received 4 phone calls from his other fishing buddies complaining that we were blowing wide open the secret to Bastrop schoolies. I have no idea who these other 4 guys are. This is the only way I know to pass along the message to them.

No, the launcher rig isn't a secret anymore but I am willing to bet somebody taught/told you about it. Would that person still have told you if he/she knew you were going to blast it all over the internet? Or maybe it goes a few links up the information chain? Would that person told the person who told you if he knew it would be blasted all over the internet? And so on and so forth, so you should be able to see how the original launcher rig guys are a little butt hurt.

At one time, like a lot of fishing information and locations it was a gentleman's agreement to keep it quite. Then somebody had a few too many bud lights and before you know it all in the open.

That is why it remains important to post fishing reports that are completely full of crap from time to time.

Terry, IF there were no other posts on this forum about using launchers on Bastrop, I certainly wouldn't tell people I do. But the fact is that there are many posts about it. Out of the 25 or so boats fishing side-by-side with us out there on Sunday, 20 were using launchers. To blast us for Patrick's report is ridiculous.

The only secret to what we were using is the actual bait and Patrick did as instructed and revealed nothing about it. I even went to the trouble of re-bagging the baits so no one could see the original packaging and asked him to return any unused baits.

Yeah, I think anyone out there fishing schoolies can tell pretty quickly what people are doing. I find the call to be pretty asinine.

Only rookies use launchers. I had my pet spoon flung across the lake with a potato cannon.

My only complaint was the butthole who saw me tearing up schoolies away from the dam and proceeded to boat right through them, twice. Then couldn't catch one and asked what I was using after scaring them off for good.

I think we are saying the same thing and you are making my point. The reasons for it being all over the internet is what I described. The call was pointless, guess there is still some butthurt.
