I had the pleasure of fishing on the 1st and 3rd at lake Stillhouse over the holiday weekend. I fished with my buddy Mike on thursday. We enjoyed calm winds for the first couple of hours while working fish on a ledge with a jigging spoon. We caught one around 3 lbs in 45'. Then the wind started and we moved to a rock pile in 19' and caught one a little over 3 lbs on a carolina rigged finesse worm. I fished with my buddy Alan on saturday. Again there was no wind in the morning when we fished a hump with rocks and a ledge with a carolina rig. We caught 5 or 6 around 12" in 32'. Then the wind started again and we moved to some other structure locations and grass flats with no luck. We ended the day in 45' with the jigging spoon. We caught several white bass and one 13" black there.

We had a great time and fished from 7 till around 2 both days. Both days were very tuff. We learned a lot and found some great potential, I can't wait till next time! ;)

I have not fished this lake since our last year club tournament. I was trying to find other reports, but limited.

Here is one guide report. He located birds. I did not know the birds work in the wintertime around here. I do not know this guy.

Here is his 2008 January Reports. He seems to use live bait and downriggers, too.  I like to see what was working in the past, so I can apply it now...

Fishhead, how long did y'all stay on the first ledge that y'all caught the first one on (on 1/1)? I was with Alan on the first. It was my first time on Stillhouse. When we left the ramp to head for the hump you mentioned, it was so cold that by the time we turned around to come talk to y'all, I couldn't feel my face. :D  It was brutal doing 40 on the open water.

We couldn't buy a bite that day. After 3 hours of "casting practice", Alan said, "I'm done, I hate this lake!!"  I was ready myself so we headed back to the ramp around 11....

Glad to hear y'all did better on the 3rd, and glad to hear that he caught some too!! ;) ;D

Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you. I've been working my tail off!
We stayed on that spot too long. Like idiots we watched birds working another area for over an hour while breaking off spoons. When we finally moved we found bait and fish for a minute before the wind picked up and the birds and fish left. :-/ I'll be out tomorrow, can't wait!
