Looks like TPWD just officially announced a new state record Spotted Bass that was caught a couple of weeks ago... not to be confused with the Guadalupe Bass that we catch around here. I guess they were waiting on the results of some extensive DNA testing to ensure that it wasn't a largemouth.

I moved to the austin aera, before the lake was finished, went and looked at it once looks great, deep clear, standing tree, rocks 25 SAL's. A friend told me to only fish it during the week, as it is small. The weekends are really busy. TPW was checking DNA to make sure it was truly a Spot.

Yea lake alan henry is a nice lake but it does get crowded in the summer, especially since its pretty much the only lake around with water in it. Me and my dad used to catch some nice lmb and plenty of them but now it seems like the spotts have taken over along with the shad. But they do school up in the mouth of the creeks and will crush a tiny torpedo so i guess a guy cant realy complain.

Rumor has it they're actually going to lower the size limit on the spots because of their numbers.
