A friend of mine caught what may be number 500 today on Ivie, 13.04 pounds.  Rumor has it Falcon gave up #499 this morning, but I've yet to find anything on line regarding the Falcon fish.

Dang it! I was planning on catching 499 and 500 at choke in the morning. Oh well, hat's off to the lucky angler. I never thought that it would be this year. It is amazing how many fish have been entered this year.

You might want to tell your friend he hit the jackpot. Toyota and Texas Fisheries are offering a $500 per pound prize for the 500th Share a Lunker - no joke. See below:

Will You Land the Prize?
The race is on to catch the ShareLunker 500! Since the ShareLunker program began in 1986, pro and amateur anglers alike have caught and donated big bass weighing 13 pounds or more. The angler who catches the 500th entry will get something extra: $500 for every pound the fish weighs.

I don't know what's up with this either. I can say that for me and my friends 2010 has already been a much better year than 09 was and not by a little bit either.

Whatever is going on I like it!! :)

I'm pretty sure that's why Ed was making the post saying his buddy caught #500. But yes, he hit the jackpot indeed. I'm still holding out hope that the fish doesn't pass the x-ray test though! Har! jk ;)

I am no conspiracy theorist but can someone do the math for me Ivie fish was picked up at ivie around 9 pm we have all seen the pictures of it she was a beautifull fish. We have not seen anything about this Falcon Fish and I am no math wiz but unless the TPWD dude drives 100mph the Falcon fish was caught at about 5 am correct me if I am wrong but it is about a 16 hour trip from Athens to Falcon to Ivie. For your friends sake I hope I am wrong for my sake I hope I am right and I catch # 500 Thursday on Georgetown.

I believe thay added a truck in the south due to all the Falcon bass. What a lucky dog! That's what I would call a good day!

I'm also concerned there isn't more info out there about the Falcon fish. Regardless I don know Bill's fish was accepted. I guess time will tell if it was 499 or 500.

I have allways been told it was one guy with one truck
Isn't there two trailer tanks, north and south zones?

Typically one truck.  Occasionally, lunker help deploys from the fish hatchery in San Marcos.    Austin, Falcon, Casa Blanca, Choke, or Amistad and the like just depending on how good business is.

But being so close to 500, the program may want to eliminate the "sand bagger" element and create an air of excitement over the occurence.

Seems to work? ;D
