Hit lake Bastrop north shore today and was pleasantly surprised to find some good schooling action in the area. They didn't get going till after 1030a and the schools were small and sportatic. I was able to enjoy an hour or so catching them before the sun and day got to me (I work nights). I left them biting around 1130a. My rig of choice was a big Heddon spook with the hooks removed and a 3' leader tied to the tail. I terminated with a 2/0 Kahle hook exposed through a very small Zoom fluke and chunked it with my 7' spinning rod. I can get a solid 40 yards distance with this rig and would put it on the action when they popped up. Others where using Rattle traps and other various cranks as well as top waters. Its all good, whatever you can toss the furthest at a monents notice...they'll hit it  Its only going to get better in the coming weeks so get out and get some...los O fun  I'm headed back in the morning!
BTW-take water, hat, and sunscreen cause it is HOT and the water offers little relief at over 85 degrees on the surface
