Maybe a day late for some, but good info Andrew.

Mine stays lowered this time of year for that very reason.
On a side note, I wonder how many boats in slips didnt get winterized before last nights cold snap?

I just called my brother and told him to go check the tooner. I always lower it when I park and lock it up, but something tells me after last Thursdays Lake Travis bender that's probably not the case. I certainly don't remember lowering the motor.

I'm guessing most of the water drained out between Point Venture and Austin anyways, lots of hills.

Friendly reminder that with these freezing temps, it is a good idea for those who keep their boat outside to lower the motor so the water can drain out the lower unit and not freeze/crack it.
Also good to keep your batteries plugged in when below freezing. Cold weather is hard on batteries.
