Fellas I am considering buying a place on the coast and storing my boat down there. The boat has two optima batteries paired with a minn kota 2 bank charger. The boat may be stored there for a month or two at a time without use. To have fully charged batteries, do I need to buy some type of trickle charger? If so, what type or brand? Can the on board charger be left plugged in for long periods?(assuming it can't) Hope ya'll are doing well

Your on board charger should reduce to a trickle charge or have a maintenance mode once the batteries are fully charged. Double check the manual but this should be pretty common.

What everyone said above is on target. The only thing I would add is if the boat is 50 feet or more from the electrical outlet, then use a heavy duty electrical cord. I burned one on-board charger up before realized the cord I was using was too small of a gauge. Sorry, I can't remember the gauge chord I use now. Heavy gauge is always better.
