WOOT!
Im so glad I went fishing today... Almost didn't go.
Went to a creek I been fishing a lot lately near my house. It's super clear water, I bought some Vanish 6lb test today, spooled it up, and went fishing. I hadn't been able to catch these creek Hawgs, cause they are real skidish, even had to switch line. So anyways. I been using the Rattlesnake, It's been doing well for me. So I tied on the Watermelon, Chartreuse color. Got to the water a lil after 6pm, and 30 mins later, I caught MY PERSONAL BEST on artificial!!! ;D With my Ultralight UglyStick, with 6lb test Vanish. BoY was it nutz!
I casted out, and was smoking a cig, so I was moving it real slow, cause Im a dirty smoker, and I do that when I smoke, I move it slower. And In my head Im thinking about a Carolina rig, and what I would use, so I start dragging It on the bottom for a couple inches, and that's when he sucked it up. felt like I was pulling it through some Algea at first, and then I felt a tiny tap. and by then, I set the Hook, and this fish just decides to take off shooting up the creek about 30 yards, and I couldn't do anything but let him pull drag, and then I saw him, and that he was indeed one of the Hawgs, that Ive been targeting the past few weeks. and Hes pulling hard, and goes straight for this bush that hangs out over the water, and my rod is bending like crazy, and hes already pulling drag at a lightning fast pace, and I couldn't do anything but pray... I'm talkin outloud, Please, don't come off, please don't break, over and over, and this bass was really in there, and I know it's only a matter of time, until my line just snaps and all I would have is a fishing story, and my buddy would for sure not believe me, so Im just praying, and reeling and just being super easy with him, and Miraculously the bass comes out of the bushes, and shoots across the creek where it came from and pulled even more drag, and I got him under control and landed him much to my amazement, ;D So I do my I am all that is man roar, and took some pics. I haven't caught a bass this big on artificial since I was 9 years old. Ive come close but never been able to pass the 5 1/2lb mark until this evening when I weighed this guy, he was 6lbs on my super crappy scale that I hate, It was almost 22in. The pics don't do Him justice, cause I was shaking so bad from the excitement of catching this Hawg, that I just couldn't take a good pic to save my life at that point in time. So I stuck my leg out and laid him against it and took some pics, He was chunky.
A couple casts later I hooked into another really nice one. but he came off after 6 cranks.
Shortly after that, I caught this guy.
After that, Im hooking bass, and they are coming off, and im like dang, my hooksets werent good enough. By then, Im on the other side of the creek, and I flat out missed some bites from not paying attention, and by now its pretty dim outside, so I switch to the Chartreuse Rattlesnake and catch this guy.
Left at 9pm and come home to relize I didn't even have my memory card in my cam, so I went and spent 30 bucks on a USB cord so I could get the pics off my camera.
