PB on Decker 05/16

My best friend and I went out to Decker this morning and had a great day.  Was the first boat off the ramp and headed over to the inlet where the whites were schooling like crazy.  They were turned on for an hour and then disappeared.  We caught 11 after we figured out what they wanted, but should have caught well over 20.  After the fish disappeared so did the bite so we headed across the lake and hit the reeds where I hooked my Decker PB - a 7.1# 25" hog.  She hit a weightless Senko right at the edge of the reeds.  I actually thought I was hung until my line moved about 15 feet in a couple of seconds so I knew she was a decent fish.   :)

That happened right before 8:30 and I got shut out the rest of the day except for 2 bluegills (yes 2) that hit my RattleTrap.  How weird is that.  My buddy caught 5 LM that the biggest went ~ 2# so we left the lake right at noon.

Here's a pic of my girl.  I shouldn't have held her under her belly, you can't really tell just how fat she was!  All in all it was a good day and I headed home with a smile.   ;D

nice fish! That fish has the head of a 13lb+ fish!!
That's a Toad man, congrats. Arai is right if that fish hadn't spawned out you'd have yourself a double digit right there.

You may be right.  I have caught a few fish in my life that have been bigger, but the 10# plus fish has eluded me.  I had one at the boat 2 years ago at Amistad that would have gone at least 12 if not more but she shook the hook right in front of me.

Hard to be disappointed with this one though.   ;)
Thats a Decker Pig  WTG had to of made your whole day worthwhile.

Jim
congrats on a great fish!
Nice toad..big fish for Decker! ;D
What color Senkos were you using? I understand if you want to keep that a secret.
Nope, you did the right thing by supporting her weight and holding her belly. Generally speaking, fish over 5lbs you don't ever want to just hold by the lip. However, when it comes to taking pics, it helps if you hold it back closer to the tail with that second hand. It will look better that way than directly under the belly. Great catch.
hey hey HEY! That's my favorite hole your fishin. Didn't you see my name on the reeds!! That little point behind you goes out and meets the little creek channel that meanders back behind you.

Nice fish off MY hole! ;D

We have probably 10-12 colors we use, but she bit my "old faithful" 5" green and white version.

And McToon we must have missed your sign.  :)
