Hello everyone,

I am Sascha 40 years old from germany, where I mostly try to catch pike, walleye and bass.

But now I won a working trip to Austin from 20.04. to 20.05. and I can`t stop fishing in this time so maybe someone can help me out.

What kind of tackle I need?
Where can I get an licence and where can I go fishing?
Maybe some good spots, if this is not an secret?

Greetings

Sascha

Welcome!
You can get a fishing license at any Academy sports store, just ask at the register.
The tackle depends on what you are comfortable with and what you are fishing for. I mainly fish plastics on drop shot and am learning the texas rig. Very rarely do I catch on moving baits.
There are lots of good spots around the Austin area. Lady bird lake is a favorite. There also might be one closer to where you are staying. You can search google maps for lakes/bodies of water and then search on the forums under the black bass fishing reports and bank fishing reports to see how people like the different spots.

Good luck!

Hey Petricore,

thanks for your Help! I like to fish hardbaits, but I also have a lot of plastics, spinner, spoons and so on. The main problem is when I carry all with me I have no more space in my luggage for some clothes 😂
Did I need a landing net, because in Germany we need to have one?
I will stay near the Airport, but I have a Rental car and so it is Not a big deal to come to a Spot.

You aren't required to have a hard net as far as I know. You could also buy a cheap one once you are here if you prefer.

I'd say bring what you are the most comfortable with bait wise and if you need anything after you arrive you can buy it and ship it home if you want instead of brining it in the luggage.

I'm personally most comfortable with soft plastic, I rarely catch on hard baits, but I think I just need more experience.
