Here's my fishing report:
Fished with two friends starting from the south launch about 2P. Skies partly cloudy, wind 10-15, hot. Notice when I launch lots of older guys pulling out. Thought to self-"where are they going", this is Choke, you know, CHOKE! Have my trusty Academy map, and GPS with lots of great spots in the waypoint list. Find the first spot close to ramp, and wind starts to pick up, somewhere between 30 MPH and Hurricane Rita. Trolling motor quickly proves inadequate. Move over to the four fingers area to get out of wind, but angle of wind seems to be unfavorable. Resort to tying off to snags. Learn lesson-careful grabbing snags when your boat is sailing past at 10-15 knots! May cause fisherman to lose balance. Learn that it takes foothold on motor fin and two good strong friends to haul fat butt back into boat. Good news-get to buy new cellphone! Fishfinder gets confused with yo-yoing of bow, tells me either 6 feet or 600, not sure which. Finally put it out of it's misery when snap transducer cable that tagles in gator mount as I raise TM. Run over the Morgan Point, but wind God toys with me by shifting wind more southward, the eastward when we try to run for the southshore. Finally throw in the towel, and head in. Lawnchair crappie fisherman lands nice bass at launch, and then asks me how they were biting. I search for humor on his face-none there! Drive back to Austin with an uncomfortable wet wedgy, and black lab sniffs me for 10 minutes trying to figure out why I don't smell like a bass as usual, but more like lake water. Both wife and dog DO try unsuccessfully to hide humor(after all, my lab is female).
Anybody want to but a boat?
