I stopped by on my way home from a house remodel and went down to the boat ramp at Sandy Creek park. Has anybody fished the cove next to the boat ramp? It looks promising from a boat and from the bank. I was thinking on stopping after work and fishing the cove from 5-dark. Any input would be great. Thanks...

I've launched my kayak there and fished several times and caught a few fish. Last time was about 2 months ago. Same as any other spot on Lake Travis if you ask me as far as quantity and quality of fish.

Great place to camp and fish overnight.

Thanks for the replies, I thought the camping might be a good idea. It seems like a good place to hang on the bank all night for some catfish tugging, or some live minnows on a bobber. I like the fact that it is kinda out of the way for the casual weekend traffic. I saw no wake bouys, but it looks like a boat could troll in. Looks like a great place to try my new kayak w/ trolling motor setup. Thanks for the info guys.

We call it Chemical Cove.

Back in the 70's, there used to be a few fuel drums(from when they cleared the lake) and a couple of other containers of ??? . The fuel drums have rusted away and the containers were later picked up when the lake dropped.

We used to carp fish at night on the point of land on the other side of the cove.

We'd stick our nose in it everytime we launched on that part of the lake. No memorable bass, though.
