I was in Sandy Creek for a couple hours last night as well. Caught and released 2 LMB the same size Als was catching (10" - 12").  I was cleaning junk off of my hooks after almost every cast.

My goal was to fish for whites, but I didn't go back far enough before it got too dark...it it gets dark quick back there.  I finally got off the water at around 8:45.

By the way, there were some fish thrashing around near, almost on the shore.  Would those be catfish or what?
Thanks Ranger_R77...  What is considered the "back" of Sandy Creek?

I would go until the water gets 10 feet deep or so and begin fishing.  Fish upstream until it's get's too shallow to navigate.  You should pick some fish up
So, to make sure I understand...  Are we talking about here:

Or here:

Thanks!

:-[ I'm going to try to play the "I'm still new to the area" card, but I won't hold it against anyone if they would like to laugh at me. ;) Als, I'm very glad you asked the question with maps. It made me pull my maps out and relook at where I was trying to go.

My intention was to fish in the second location you posted...

According to my maps, that IS Sandy Creek.

I accidentally went into the first location you posted where I caught a couple smaller LMB and heard lots of carp...

This weekend the kids and I are going to try to go fishing up Sandy Creek...the real Sandy Creek this time.

Either I'm blind or somehow we lost basstrack's message, but either way, thank you! It is very good to know that. I should have known it long before now, but at least I can get it right for the next few months that I'll be close to Lake Travis.
