On Saturday 9/20/08 a buddy and I went down the Colorado river for a second time. We went in at the 183 bridge and got out under the 130 Toll road. The trip is about 10 miles and takes from 5-8 hours.
I caught about 5 LMB all about 1 pound using a 3 inch Wildeye Swim Shad from Storm Lures. I picked up a pack of 6 for about $3.50 at Academy. The first three baits I lost on submerged logs. The other three helped me catch all my fish in 4 - 15 feet of open water. I saw plenty of fish following my bait even a 4 foot Gar.

My buddy was catching them using small rooster tails and large white grubs. He caught more fish. But I think I got the biggest. I'll add a pic of my biggest bass when he sends it to me, but until then.

Be careful going down to that spot. I went down there one time and there was a bunch of meth heads down there doing drugs and just being creepy. I would bring a piece if I went again or advise anyone who is to do so.

Eh I've been down there plenty of times. There are always sketchy people about, but nothing's ever happened. We always put in and float downstream a bit and then paddle back up. It's much scarier at night, but, like I said, nothing's ever happened. We've probably put in there about 50 times.

I agree about creepy people being down there. The first time going down we saw some real ******* meth addict looking guys fishing around the water treatment plant near FM 973. I couldn't understand why they were fishing in that smelly ass water. Who knows.

It is a fun trip but I recommend going in the morning so that you have time to get back to your car with daylight.
