Hi All,

Im looking for a used but working fishfinder. If you have one collecting dust and want to give it a second life, please sell it to me. :) Will be mounting on a kayak. Grayscale OK but decent screen resolution.

You need to look for more than the size and/or the resolution. You want to look at the "Peak to Peak" power. For instance, many of the FF's are 800 watt peak to peak. This is the amount of power the signal sends out.

The Humminbird 170 is a Dual beam 1600 watt peak to peak at Academy for $99. It sends a second signal at a much higher concentration directly below the boat. The depth is 800 feet, albeit that is not a huge deal in a lake.. heh.. but sometimes bigger is not always better.

Sorry, I just added a 170 to my kayak so figured to pass on the info. I too was looking for a used one, but nothing came up except really really expensive ones, so had to buy new and the lowest I could find was 70 bucks. So, I compared the 70-100 ones and up to the 200 ones.

The best bang for the buck was the 170.

Hope tht helps!

Round Rock Academy has like 5 of them atm.
