[5 good bites]

Haven't been out on LBJ in a couple of years, but since there are very few ramps near me on Travis open now with the low water (5 minutes from the Jonestown ramp) I hopped on over there yesterday morning. Got there a little late and was on the water around 7:45. Water temps at 8 was around 61 degrees. Wow. It should be ON! Not so much. Hit several areas of the lake and even made my way up through the canals on the south side of the lake. One of my best producing creeks just was not happening or I couldn't figure it out. Saw a couple of small males that looked like they were trying to make beds, but they were VERY skiddish and not locked down. Headed back to the northwest side of the lake around 12:30 and pulled up into the back of a creek channel and started seeing a couple of decent fish cruising. Ok, looks like this may be better. Oh, and hydrilla
EVERYWHERE! I used to kill on deep grass on LBJ before the flood in 2018, so I am thrilled to see this back again. Pulled out a 3/8 white double leaf spinnerbait and within 10 minutes had the first bite of the day, just a little over 3 pounds. Had to be back by 4 so I decided to just fish that cove til I had to leave at 3. Ended up with 7 fish, all except one little dink (dink = around a pound or so). The other 6 were all cookie cutters right at 2.5 to 3 pounds. Beautiful day on the water. Caught my first bed fish of the year. Saw several nice ones cruising around but not locked down on anything. Looks like it's just getting started. Water temps by 3 pm were in the 65 degree range. Headed back later this week hopefully.

TFTR! Glad you to hear you got on a decent bite. I appreciate all the detail. I’ve only fished LBJ three times. All three times I’ve really enjoyed the lake, even though I don’t think I caught ‘em as good as you did.
