Put in at Cottonwood early and headed to Granite Shoals are to fish around some submerged lights. Water temp was 59. Saw fish and bait(shadows) around the lights but couldn't get them to bite anything. Caught a two short fish on wacky senko along a seawall. Moved down lake a bit after daylight and caught keeper #1 on a seawall(wm-r Senko). Kept moving and hitting favorite areas, but bites were few and far between. Caught keeper #2 on another seawall near Sandy Creek - senko again. Moved up to another cove just before you get into the river heading up to Kingsland. Water had warmed to 62 and the area looked good, but only catch was a 3 lb channel cat(senko skipped under dock). Moved up the the cove where Storms is and caught a few small fish. Water temp there was 64 deg(about 1pm) and we saw a few fish cruising, but nothing very big. Finished the day on the brushpiles near the mouth of the Llano where I caught keeper #3(about 3 lbs) on t-rig 4" pumpkin pwrworm.
Now the interesting part. The north wind had picked up quite a bit by 3pm so the ride back to Cottonwood was going to be fun no matter what, but when the throttle stuck open going about 45mph it got even better. We were about 10 miles from the ramp and I knew if I turned the key off we might not be able to get going again so we stuck it out and made a very rough run back. The waves were rolling into cottonwood pretty good so I wasn't sure to expect when i turned the key off. Fortunately the boat slowed nose up and we didn't spear any waves. Made it into the ramp area with the trolling motor(barely!) and managed to get the boat on the trailer.
Interesting part #2. While we were fishing it appears that someone ran into my trailer and failed to leave a note! [smiley=angry.gif] Unfortunately(for them) some kind person overheard them talking about it, took down their info, and left me a note. [smiley=happy.gif] So, if anyone knows someone with a red f-250(SET DHK?) and red Skeeter, TX 71ZZGL, please tell them I forgive them and that I'm sure they meant to leave a note.
Sorry for the long post...needed to vent.
