Robinson Bass Club angler Ricky Culverhouse set a new Lake Waco record for largemouth bass on Sunday, with a 13.87-pounder he caught on a Zoom Brush Hog.

The fish was weighed on official scales by representatives of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Budweiser ShareLunker program, and was then transported to the program’s headquarters in Athens for spawning research and a life of leisure.

In addition to setting the new lake record, Culverhouse’s bass was the first fish from Lake Waco to become part of the ShareLunker program, which encourages anglers who catch bass weighing 13 pounds or better to lend or donate their fish to TPWD for spawning purposes.
