Trip Notes: First fishing trip since September 21st. First time on Lake Travis since June 10th. Nice day for fishing! I still need to learn how to catch during daylight hours! Did great after dark on lights.

I was catching almost immediately on the gold spoon until I lost it when a very large striped bass broke off against the boat before I could land it solo.

Off the water around 9:45 PM.

All fish released. Unfortunately my light wasn't working well, so only one photo -- which happens to be of the only fish that bloodied itself, to further my bad reputation. ;)

Lots of small LMB. Lost a few good size striped as well.

Yep, I saw that was coming...  [smiley=embarassed.gif]

In case anyone is interested, I went back and looked at the history, and I've started adding the lake level to my fishing reports.  Yesterday it was 652.01.  When I went on June 10th it was 649.3, and I scraped bottom somewhere just below Emerald Point Marina towards Mansfield dam.  Fortunately I'd had to stop to fix my light because the wind was so bad, and so when I scraped bottom I was barely moving.

The level for June 4th was my target for returning to Lake Travis.  On June 4th the level was 650.54.  I'd say that was a less eventful trip than the scare on June 10th, but that was the night I got hooked through the lip by my friend that was fly fishing.  So, yes, I know how the poor fish feel! ;)

Anyway, I noticed a lot of buoys up in that same area yesterday...  I didn't remember them there before the level dropped, and I don't recall seeing them on June 10th.  Anyone know if they are new, or just submersed when the level is higher?
