On the lake at 7 am determined to check out the topwater bite. Caught 12, with 6 being in the 2 pound range and the largest 2 lbs 12 oz shown in photo. First time out since weather change. Water temp showed to be 76 on my Garmin. Not sure I believe it, since UT Lake Travis Test Station is showing surface temp of 84. Whatever--it was a fun day.
I had similar results today. But the top water bite died off for me. Switched to crankbait and it was game on. Fished from Dawn to 11 am and had 20 fish. The biggest looked similar to yours. Although I did have a big one take drag and break my line on a dock cable close to Mansfield damn. It was fun to feel a big fish again.
9/26 & 10/3 were my best two days of the year on Travis. Caught 19 on 9/26, and me and a buddy caught 15 or so on 10/3. All we’re on top water poppers. Most were in 1-1.5lb range. A few were in 3-4lb range. The bite slowed a little in the late morning but they were still active enough to where I didn’t even consider changing lures. Glad to hear Travis is hopping for someone else too!!
