It was hard to believe this was our first trip out here for 2019, but better May than never. We put in at daybreak and ran to our favorite starting point. The air was thick with moisture and a pleasant light breeze, really good weather. Todd deployed the troller but it malfunctioned. While he worked on the trolling motor, I cast out wacky senko and boated several small fish. Because of the troller issue, we headed to a protected cove to make boat control easier. We both caught fish on senko, but Todd wanted better control.

We ran back to the ramp to make repairs. He got the Plan B controller to work. I asked him to take me to the main lake point and find some hydrilla. I caught fish on TR ribbontail and paddletail, but bites were few and far between. Todd caught a couple schoolies and some funfish in 30 FOW by swimming a 4" worm, and we decided to take this deepwater pattern from open lake to the shoreline eelgrass. Eureka! It worked!

Bite after bite, fish after fish. Todd pulled us off our spot to raft with GW for a quick license check and then we're back in 'em. We caught a lot of fish, guessing at least forty in the boat. Great day on the water. Off at 3PM.

We were out on 5/18 and had a blast. Wind and cloud cover. Water temps at 81 for most of the day. Boated 37 with a few at 3+lbs, all shallow. Most were on plastics but the spinnerbait worked from before sun-up to right after the sun peeked over the horizon. Not many folks out.

May hit it this coming weekend at night.
