Time: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Weather: Overcast and light mist all morning. Light winds.
Air Temps: 60s
Water Temps: 57-60
Water Clarity: 3ft below 360; 4ft up around City Park

Went out there targeting the BIG bite. I threw a big swimbait for most of the day with a jig, tube bait, senko, crankbait, and spinnerbait mixed in. All of which were larger than average sized baits, again going for a big one. I had several bites, but they were all short-striking the baits and not really eating them. Finally broke down in the last hour just wanting to catch one and started throwing a drop-shot and had my partner throw a shaky head. I caught two around the 2 pound range and my partner caught one closer to 3 while finessing in the last hour. I targeted pre-spawn staging areas all day.

Good report. I usually prefer to fish for numbers more than the one big bite, thats wy I prefer Decker but let me tell you, TJdudes bohemyth has started a fire under me for going to Austin and chase that dream fish. I am gunna have to bear down and go indure going all day with 10 bites and hope one of them is Moby. :-?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't know how some guys do it. I just couldn't take NOT catching anything, so that last hour I broke down and finessed 'em. That's probably what I had all day... about 10 bites. Although, even that many bites is pretty good when you're throwing the big baits. I didn't actually hook any of them though that came on those big baits. Smaller fish maybe? Even a 2-3 lb fish would've had a difficult time completely eating that swimbait I was throwing yesterday.
