I'm headed to the frigid tundra of Utah tomorrow morning for the holidays and will be there for a week, so at the last second today I decided I needed to get in a fishing fix before I go. It was a tough decision deciding to go for numbers at Travis or big fish at Austin. Figured I'd take my chances and go big at Austin. I only had two hours to fish before I had to be at work at 5:00, so I fished from 1:30-3:30 this afternoon. I launched at Quinlan Park and started running around to about a dozen spots or so fishing fairly fast trying to get them figured out. Water temp was pretty cold at 54-55 degrees and very clear (10ft visibility). It was pretty slow going and I didn't even get a bite until the last 15 minutes. It's a shame I had to force myself to get off the water as I just got them figured out. In the last 15 minutes I caught three weighing in at 5-5, 5-2, and 5-1. Also lost one halfway in on the last cast that felt just as good as the previous three. Caught them all throwing a C-rigged Lake Fork Crawdad (green pumpkin) in 15-20 FOW near a bluff wall. The pic is of the 5-5.
