Put the canoes in at the low water corssing below Mansfield Dam. Water was down 4-5 ft thus far. A fishing buddy was supposed to have his depth finder, but did not, so we were just winging it. The water is clear enough to see basic depth info, though. Drifted down to Quinlan Park working a jig-n-pig, 1/2oz spinner baits, 6-10ft shad pattern cranks. Hydrilla is thick in that section, so I flipped as many pockets as I could. Fishing that section again, I'd probably only throw a Carolina rig to counteract the hydrilla a little better. Between 3 of us, we got zero bites. Only saw 2 dinks the whole day, even when motoring back upstream at a good clip across the hydrilla beds, which usually spooks some bass. Never got to any really deep holes, which I think was the main problem. Hoping to hit it again once or twice during the drawdown. I can safely say the fish weren't holding between Mansfield and Quinlan.

Any solid tips for fishing the drawdown? I was expecting to throw a lot more deep cranks, but just never got to the right spots for them.

Most of that stretch between Mansfield and Quinlan is pretty shallow even at full pool. If you're looking for deeper holes, consider launching at City Park, 360, or Walsh Landing. Thanks for the post just the same.
