Haven't been out in a couple weeks and was going through fishing withdrawl. Was glad to get the call from Tim (nitroguy) to go fish LA.
Weather was mostly cloudy, wind 10-15, air temp around 80 deg in morning - upper 90s in afternoon. Water temp 79 - 82 deg.
We put in at 360 around 7am and started just south of the bridge throwing crank baits and swim baits. Picked up 1 bass on the crank and started fishing worms and jigs on the bluffs. Caught 1 more bass on the TRig.
Moved a little further north of 360 and graphed some fish that were holding in 10'. Went back to throwing crank baits and picked up a few more small bass by going up and down the gradual bank where we marked fish. This bank had some grass at the edge of where the water gets a bit deeper. After the crank bite died we headed across the lake and fished docks with TRig and shakey head worms. We caught a few more bass doing this so stuck with it until we left the water around 3pm. We ended up with 14 bass today, only 3 keepers in the bunch...nothing picture worthy.
So, in summary-
What worked: sexy shad and firetiger shallow to medium diving crank bait fished over grassy banks. Texas rig and shakey head worms -rattlesnakes in watermelon red and finesse type worms in green pumpkin.
What didn't work: jigging spoon, swimbait, football jigs w/craw or hula grub trailer (the fish didn't seem to want the big stuff today).
Good luck to those fishing the Wed nighter.
