Had a good morning. Put in at 360 at 6:30 and got off water at 10:30. Water temp around 71 degrees +/-, fished downlake on some flats, primarily topwaters. Lance using an H2O popper/chugger, me using an H20 Sammy.

The fish were definitely biting on the south shore. Probably 15 keeper fish boated between the two of us. Lots more were short-striking and slapping the plugs but not getting hooked.

One key factor was fishing where the wind was blowing the water towards the bulkheads/seawalls. On our usually productive holes that didn't have wind action, the bite was noticeably slower.

Best fish was mine, this 23 inch sow that dragged me all around the boat.

Great pic and report Herb! Damn! And on topwater! Solid day of fun! Think I've heard something about windblown shorelines somewhere before...but it's good to remind us every now and again. Thanks!

Thanks, it was one of our best days on Lake Austin, ever.

These fish were ganging up on grass flats and working the incoming wind action. They were hanging out in 2-5 FOW and hitting chuggers and sammies that just nipped the tops of the grass. The bite was over by 10am.

Yep......I love the H20 TW's.......The only complaint I have about them is the hooks.  I change all of them out.....other than that, they have nice action and decent rattles![/quote]

I have heard that the H20 frogs sink.
