Fished from 830p-1130p, Hula Hut to underwater lights above 360. Had several bites on Flat A in baby bass color in front of Mozarts but no takers. Tried shakey head, TR Sweet Beaver 6-10' with no takers. Didnt get skunked though! Managed to pull a white bass from lights on Flat A. Even had several followers on white grub, but no takers.
Water temp in low to mid 70's.

Heard a nasty car crash while I was fishing Walsh ramp. You know it is bad when you hear the THUD then brakes.

Secondly, it is scary as hell fishing Hula Hut at night. People taking off without lights, throwing a wake in the 'no-wake- zone. I heard several people with slurred speech driving the boat.

Thirdly, was coming in to ramp when I noticed a floating bass boat with cowl off. Stopped to check on person. Motor had flooded we guess. Went through all I could think of, but thing would never fire. He eventually got towed to their dock by his dad. Cole, hope you join up! (He has been a lurker on here.)

And finally, while he and I were floating and working on motor, we heard Muslims chanting, more like screaming, on top of the hill by 360 bridge. Should we be concerned? ;D

Nice to have met you last night pulling the boats outs. Hopefully next trip the bite start back up again!

The "Chanting" were all the double digit bass laughing at us.

I will be fishing that end of the lake tomorrow A.M. so I will see what I can get into.

Friday and Saturday nights on Lake Austin are something I just will not do this time of year.

OKay so I jsut bought my first boat"money-pit" and I have been reading all these LA reports but what are these underwater lights I have been reading about?? I am closest to the 360 launch ramp and have already considered waiting till it gets cold and the pleasure boaters are gone before I attack austin? is that the best idea or is it still fishable , but only late at night or EARLY morning?

LA is a beast to fish in the summer. During midday, the fish really have lockjaw and you get battered by the boat traffic. I have only fished the sunset and early mornings in the summer. Per the underwater lights, I personally don't know of any underwater lights on LA, but maybe i am just missing out. The only underwater lights I know of are on Lake Travis. If there are some on LA, I doubt anyone is going to share their location ;). Heading out in an hour or so with its_a_bigone. I decided to turn a night on 6th into an all nighter and then fishing.

When fishing any underwater light, I normally use the "rip and stop" technique using a white/black splatter back Bandit 200 crankbait. Or cast a 1/16oz white jig head with a 1.5" white curl grub, ran in tandem. Again, cast and reel about 2-3 times fast and stop. Then repeat. The whites hit on the stop, normally. Also the grub curl tails catch crappie too, if in the area.

Any change in the speed of a lure, triggers a strike in my opinion...

Also, fishing on LT, the whites become scittish (sp?). They will scatter on a calm night. It is best to go on a 10-15mph wind, night. In fact if the wind in 15-20mph, striper fishing at night can be fun/challenging on Lake Buchanan. Just be carefull not to get too close to light, when positioning the boat. Sometimes the bigger fish stay on the edge of light in the water. Cast and change lure speed in the whole area. Cast towards the light and edges of light. Change retrieve speed. Might have to have several lights to try every 30 minutes.

Do not give up. It is called "Fishing" not "Catching". ;D

Good luck..
