I just had to post this, because it was my son's first Bass caught all on his own with his own pole. He casted it, he saw the bobber go down and he cranked it in.  We then promtly released the fish and enjoyed watching it swim off to get bigger someday.

I know this might not be a very helpful post, but i am just posting it as a proud Dad and on the behalf of one very excited kid.

It was caught on a jig and and a bobber.

Thanks,

Jeff

Yeah, high and tight is the only way to go at this age..... Missing the two front teeth add to the picture as well. He will be out there with me soon catching some stripers at Buchanan. I can't wait to get him hooked up on a nice keeper striper. That will be a nice post.

Thanks,

Jeff

That is an awsome post. Our son will be 3 in June and we can't waite for him to catch his first fish. He practices daily with his spider man pole on how to cast and reel it in. I must say he is doing very well. Congrats lil guy on your first big catch. That is a great looking fish. I hope he has a blast catching more and bigger fish in the near future.

Thanks so much for all the great response to this post. My son has enjoyed me reading all the great responses to him and it has motivated him even more to catch more fish and take lots of pictures.

Thanks again,

Jeff

That is AWESOME! My little one is 2 1/2 and he has had a fishing pole since the baby shower and I am dying to be able to take him out and let him do this.

By comparison this is a huge fish. Almost as big as his whole arm! How many of you guys would die to catch a black as big as your whole arm? This kid is already winning   ;). Congrats. Nice job on lipping it the right way.
