We usually limit our trips to Fayette to a couple of nights, but decided to add another one this trip and man we were rewarded.
Thursday evening- Went to the cove just to the left of Oak Thicket park and on started throwing T-rig brush hogs in the trees and picked up about 8-10 slot fish with some of those coming well after dark.
Friday - After staying up way too late and having one of my trolling batteries die, we got started really late getting on the water about 10:30. Wind was blowing about 10MPH out of the North. We decided to try the East side of the lake and found a cove with varied depths that was semi-protected from the wind. Started out throwing CR rigged brush hogs and then my buddy put on a med diving crank bait that was chrome colored and it was ON!!! I switched to shad colored med diver and we proceeded to boat about 20 fish the rest of the day. Some slot, some in the 3-4 lb range and a few 5-6 lb's thrown in. What a day! By far the best crank bait day for me.
Saturday-
Another late start
. Wind had switched out of the South. We stayed primarily on the East side and picked up a few on CR brush hogs and even baby ratttlesnakes. Went in and ate lunch then headed back to the spot we had such good luck with on Friday. Bunch more boats stacked in there but we still managed another 20 plus fish mostly on the same crankbaits and some wacky rigged senkos. I tried some weedless hooks this time around and really liked them.
Sunday morning - Same spot on the east side. It was like a parking lot in there at times. I picked up about 5 more on a combination of cb, rattle traps and WW senkos. My buddy got skunked, but I think the fatigue had set in.
By far my best day on Fayette especially with crank baits!! What a fun way to fish.
Only had a disposable cameral this trip so pics to come later.
