A couple of weeks ago my nephew called me and invited me on a guide trip to Fork. Since I've never fished there and always wanted to, the answer was an immediate Hell Yes! I can now check fishing Fork off my bucket list.
I drove up Monday night through rain and t-storms, met up with my nephew and we headed to the Minnow Bucket Inn. After a sleepless night from the storms and Christmas Eve excitement, we met up with guide Brooks Rogers.
The previous night's rain really muddied up the water (which Brooks said turns off the Flordia strain LMB) but we still managed 10 fish between 3-5lbs with a 7.9lb kicker. It was the 3rd largest bass I've caught and definately made the trip worthwhile.
The fish haven't started their spawn yet due to the cold winter but should be turning on real soon. The water temp was anywhere from 45-58 degrees and we focused on warmer water in the backs of creeks.
Anyhow, here is a pic of the 7.9 kicker.
If anyone is planning a trip to Fork and interested in a guide, I would recommend Brooks. He's been guiding on Fork for 13yrs, competed in BASS events and is very knowegable of the lake. He also has a great sense of humor as he joined in my nephew and I in razzing each other.
