Some have put pontoons on a kakak. But, kayaks made for fishing are wide and stable. I am 72, 6', 220 and good in mine. Unlike others I do not stand up, but never had good balance. I can intentionally rock my Feel Free 11.5 back and forth and no problem. Felt the same as you until I went to an Austin Canoe and Kayak demo days.

Good looking fish. Good report. I don't stand either. Once I am in, very stable. I have a 10ft Pescador Pro and am essentially the same size as Wallly, I do think a longer boat would be faster.

Bill, I am a large man by girth. I chose a two man kayak and fitted it out for fishing. I don't stand either but I find that the broader beam allows me to set a hook without worry. I put in a raised seat and (knocking on wood) have not ended up wet yet. The yak does allow me to go some places I would not normally get to - mainly fishing a lot of the rivers around here.
