The second stop on the Fishers of Men Central Texas Trail will take us to Lake Buchanan February 23, 2008, where the spawn should be heating up, and Big Buch’s big bass will be on the minds of every team flipping, pitching and cranking this 22,000 acre lake.
Coming off a big win on Lake Travis, Mike Hastings and Flint Fisher hold the first place spot with only one point separating them from Jacky Roberts and Ken Wilkins.
In third place and the current Male/Female leaders is the team of Allen and Tammy Gass and they are only 3 points from the leaders. The race for the Male/Female Anglers of the Year has come alive after the Lake Travis Tournament with three teams in the top 10 with Earl and Leisha Loggains in 7th place and Roger and Jerral Boling in 8th place.
At the top of the Youth/Adult category are Glyn and Joseph Kennedy who are competing in their first tournament trail together, and currently in 25th place. Great job guys.

Those are nice bags. What the hell is going on with that lake? I thought it sucked? They stock it? Someone plant some hydrilla somewhere?
Buch. is a very good lake. I think it did go through some down years.
L Buch does exrememly well this time of the year through the spawn every year. Then come summer time cut all the weights by a third, maybe more. As long as they keep stocking striper, who rule the food chain, with an extremely large amount of biomass in the lake for the available forage. They outcompete the bass. I have spoken to biologists and lake Buch. is managed for striper, look at their stockiing reports. It is for reasons of bringing commerce to rural Austin. It easier for striper guides than LM guides to make a living and tourists do actually come to L Buch. for the striper fishing. Don't worry the fishing will become tough out there, but get out while it is good.

Thanks Jeff for running such an awesome tournament. Too bad I have to miss LBJ. :'( Fishing the last 2 though. Can't wait. 8)
Very good experience. Always makes me proud of you Jeff. I had a great time. Glad to meet Yung and Regan there too.
It was great to see everyone again.

From what I gathered, most bass were caught on lizzards, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits.

Caught mine on TX rig, in 5-8ft. Didn't catch any big ones though. Caught a few nice ones in prefish. ::)
Great to meet some of you guys at the tournament.  Bryan and I had a good day from the start.  Bryan landed a 5 1/2 lb. fish in the first hr. of the tournament off a frog that slammed the bait.  We had a limit in the first 3-4 hours of the tournament.   Rough day going across the lake as some of us found out. We had a 2 lb. fish that we were trying to cull out but never landed another one over 2lbs.  Looking forward to seeing everybody at LBJ.  Thanks to Jeff for a smooth running tournament.
