Ok I'm breaking down and getting a boat. I'm looking for a center console bay boat. I think I have looked at every used boat in the state of Texas (online anyway) but I don't want to rule out buying new. Any recommendations on boat dealers in central Texas? I don't mind a little driving! Thanks in advance.

There were some interesting beaters in the TPWD auction post that Ranger R77 put up - the Tran Cat caught my eye, but the "micro crack" in the hull could turn out to be big trouble.

Oh...didn't read your whole post. I've got no experience with local dealers, but several folks on here do...

I've had good dealings with Ronnie's Marine in Rockport/Aransas Pass.

Give me some ideas on maximum price to spend.
Also, what year is the earliest?

I posted some Bluewave boats for sale under this section that looked good..

I can normally find you a boat...and I am NOT a salesman for boats.

LOL

The best thing you can do is call Texas Boat World ask for cliff and let him know what your looking for- Cliff is extremely fair with his pricing on new and used boats- You defintately owe it to yourself to make the call- If cliff is not there ask for Wes- be sure and let him know are from the Austin area and a ABF member and Jeff with FAN refered you.
They are also a board sponsor.254-699-9151

I would definitely recommend Cliff as well, I haven't had the pleasure of buying from him, but he used to sponsor the UT bass team. Not too many people out there that would give a boat worth 40-50K to a bunch of college kids.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I'm looking for something around 18'-24' and a 2006 and newer. Guess I'm not quite sure on price range yet. I'm not trying to spend an arm and a leg but I guess at this point I would like to stay under $24,000. But I'll have a better idea once I start looking at new boats. I know I do want something that will run in fairly shallow water. Not necessarily a flats boat, but something I can take into some back bays.

Ranger-I looked at those boats and there are some nice ones. It's definitely a good starting point!

What size boat are you looking for? A friend who had a bad stroke recently is selling his 23' center console with an OceanRunner 225.
I may be interested in the 23 footer. Is it a bay boat or a deep v? Like a little more freeboard for towing alongside. Bay boats usually have a low freeboard.

HookEm05,

I would be interested in helping you make your decision on a new or used boat. We currently have a large selection of New 2011 boats in stock and several NICE used boats. This past weekend we had our Central Texas Boat Show. My wife and I have decided to extend ALL boat show prices through the end of January. And since we have taken in several NICE used boats as trades this month, we are going to have special prices on all USED boats in stock. Just send me an email telling me what you are looking for and let me work for you in getting you the best price I can.

First off, my $0.02....

Buy a used boat, from a Dealer...That would be my first suggestion.

Second, if you cannot find a good boat from a dealer, then look at used and then take it to a dealer to check out.

Third, best to purchase from someone you know...

Fourth, attend a boat show and maybe a bargin is available on new...

I post boats for sale, but DO NOT know the boat owner. It is very important to take the boat to a trusted mechanic and/or dealer.

Good Luck,
Robert

PS: I will be looking soon (After IRS)
