Lake: Fayette County Reservoir
Date:  27 NOV 2010  7:00am-12:00
Weather: Clear Cold morning on Fayette temps in the high 20's warming fast to the mid-hi 50's.  Mostly none but had some occasional light South breeze.
Water Conditions:  The lake is definitely 1-2 foot low with the normal OD green stain.  Temps in the low 60's on the cold areas and 84 in front of the discharge.

Summary
Took my good friend Gary from the FAN Tournament Staff to a double header day of fishing on Fayette and Bastrop.  Got a late 7:30am start on Fayette and tried for some popper and sammy top water action but only conjured up a few swirls and misses.   Moved over to the dam and hooked a few dinks with a jig N hog fished slow at the rock to sand transition.  Finished the morning off by flippin tight to standing timber in 8-10 fow which produced some more dinks and a decent 4 lbr.   Packed up shop around noon for a lunch break and headed to Bastrop for round 2.

Lake:  Lake Bastrop
Date:  27 NOV 2010  1:30-4:30pm
Weather: Warm blue bird afternoon the 60's.  Light s/sw wind.
Water Conditions:  Normal stain.  Temps around 66-68 on the cold areas.  Didn't go into the discharge area.

Summary:

Dropped in at North Shore and set out flipping reeds without much success so changed up and targeted some main lake grass lines and started hooking dinks and a skinny 3 pounder.  Caught them all on rattle snakes and jigs dragged slowly in and around patches of grass.  Definitely a slow bite but we figured it would be given the blue bird conditions.  Despite slow bites and low numbers it was still fun getting out and spending time on the water with good company and soaking up the sunshine.

Fayette 4.05 lbr

Skinny Bastrop 3.01 lbr

Great report and pics, Yung! Sounds like you guys did pretty well grinding it out in post front blue bird conditions. Good example of adapting to the conditions by moving around till you could find them. Say "hi" to Gary for me.

Nice report, Rude my son and I were out there 12:00 - 4:30. We got 7 between us 3 were 4 - 4.5 the rest were around 3. I lost one over 6 at the boat ::). Saw a lot of boats fishing main lake points and deeper water.

Hey Debbie,

I guess we just missed you guys on Bastrop as well.  As for your observation; Yeah, I've lost a little weight.  This past year I spent quite a bit of time in the gym and running the streets in preparation for my first 1/2 marathon which I ran a few weeks ago in San Antonio.  I'll be running more and hopefully losing some more weight.  Now only if my bass would find the weight that I lose!

Fishing on 2 lakes in 1 day is definitely fun.  Adds a new wrinkle to the standard fishing trip to keep it interesting.   I've only done it a few times on the local waters.
