This is not the report that I had intended to post, but here we go. We got on the water around 2:30pm and the schoolies had just started out towards the middle of the lake around the Buzzard Point area. The schoolies out in this area are very hard to target because they are so spread out. Around 4:00pm they had just started to move on up into the Three Fingers area and the schooling action was intensifying. As a school of fish surfaced off in the distance and I cranked up the big motor, I had an alarm on the boat go off. I told my partner that this fishing trip is now over. I eased my way back to the ramp and loaded it on the trailer.  I’ll see what I can do about getting it into the shop next week after Ike blows through.

But our trip wasn’t a total waste of time; we both caught a couple of bass. They were nice fish too. All of them were in the three pound range; very healthy looking and they fault like crazy. It was a little frustrating that we had to leave right when the schoolies were about to go ballistic, but some times the unexpected pops up and you have to do what you have to do. Such is life. We’ll get em next time.

What alarm? It could be anything from water in the fuel, low main battery, low oil, overheat, etc, etc.

I would check your owners guide, could be a simple fix before dragging it into the shop.

I have what is called a Smart Craft Gage that tells you what has failed when the alarm sounds off. So there is no guess work to this at all. But any how, I spoke to my mechanic today and I’m taking it in on the 11th. He doesn’t seem to think it’s the oil pump or anything real serious, but I also have a few other things that I would like for him to check out while it’s there, so it’s off to the shop.
