Well I got on the water a little later than I wanted, but it all turned out ok in the end. I started around 7:30am looking for a bite. Seems like every place I tried I was striking out. I even thought that I might be in for a skunk at the rate things were going, but after about an hour I found some feding fish. In 2-1/2 hours I manage to boat 21 bass. The bite for me came on plastic worms, (red/shad) fished slow a long the rip rap. The fish were feeding in about six to eight feet on the rip rap. Once they grabed the bait, they never let go and the fight was on. I really wouldn't consider this trip a great trip, I never caught anything over three pounds. But the fight the fish on this lake provide an angler is out standing. They pull like a freight train. Over all I had a good day.

It's fayette, 21 fish is so so......even in 2.5 hours. I havent been out there lately but last year this time my son and I(he was 5) would get out there by 5:30 and have over 50-60 fish before dark, just about every time we went out.

The most I've ever caught by myself in one trip was 97. This is not guess work folks, I had a counter that I clicked every time I threw one back in. If anything, I may have missed a few on the counter.
I don't know if I'll ever be able to beat that one. That was one heck of a fishing trip.

The way you catch so many fish on this lake is by finding a bite first. If the fish are of some what quality, then circle back around and fish that same area again and again until the bite stops. In just a hundred yard stretch, you can pick up 20 fish real quick.

Since I've been in a some what slump on my bass fishing, I thought I would go out there just so I could get my pole bent several times and maybe build my confidence level back up a little.

One time last may is started at the east side of the dam at 6pm and it took my untill 7:30 to make it all the way to the bend, and 58 fish. If I don't catch 20-30 fish on fayette it's a bad day, and yes we are spoiled.....

ON FAYETTE COUNTY-SUMMERTIME....Wait till they start schooling out in the middle of the coves and lakes...Then have a clear torpedo on and wear yourself out!

I caught over 33 bass on Lake Bastrop, in the discharge....Yes, all over 4lbs within 2.5 hours...It can happen!
