Had a bit of an off day for Fayette standards but I'm pretty sure it was my fault. I started around 8:00 am today and fished what I thought was shallow (3-4 ft) and didn't get a bite. I went out deep around 9:30 am and got one bite on a rock point in 12 ft. of water. That one bite was enough to keep me deep until noon. I finally gave up after failing to get another bite.
After a turkey sandwich and a diet coke, I decided to look shallow again, real shallow. Between noon and three I caught 10 LMB up to four pounds on a variety of baits; including a red rattle trap, a W/R fluke, and a tilapia colored spinner bait. I didn't catch a fish over three feet deep and most of them were in less than 2 feet of water.
Prior commitments forced me off the water at three. Hard to leave biting fish when it took so long to figure them out. Hopefully this can save someone a little time on an upcoming Fayette trip.
