I took my uncle out and put him on some good oh top water bites.
He had a blast and to me, that was the best part of this trip. We fished for 6 hours and caught real clse to 25 fish once again. We caught some better fish on this trip. One a little over 6, a couple of 5's, several 4' and the rest in the 3lb. range. Good healthy fat fish. They all faught like there was no tomorow. A lot of tail dancing, and rod bending, that's for sure. Can't wait to get back out there for some more of that kind a acction.

Sincerely, the best part about this trip was taking my uncle out and putting him on a good bite. My uncle has taken me fishing with him as long as I can remember. He is also the first one to ever take me out in a bass boat and do some bass fishing. He has been a bass fisherman all his life and it is he who got me hooked on this sport.

I can remember the days when I would go out with him and he would catch five to my one. I never could figure out how in the world this could be possibly. I would throw the exact same thing he was fishing with; watch what he was doing to see if there was a little something that he was doing that must be attracting the fish to strike his over mine. By watching him for years and years, and developing my own style of fishing, I can now say that I catch a few more than he does. But the truth be told, he is getting way on up there in age. If it wasn’t for his age catching up to him, then I’m sure he would still out fish me every trip just like he use to. Matter of fact, he has a real hard time getting around in the boat, therefore he doesn’t go out by himself  in his own boat like he use to. So when ever I can take him out with me, I feel like it’s blessing to do so. I can not think of one other person on the face of this earth I’d rather fish with. Even on a bad catch day, just fishing with him turns my fishing trip into an awesome one.

Sorry to hear that you are so far away Bill. The top water bite out there is just awesome right now. Once you locate where the fish are biting, like up against the reeds, or out on the shallow flats with patches of grass here and there, its history from that point on. Just keep running the lake on that particular pattern through out the day and catch nothing but good quality fish. I’m still seeing a lot folks fishing deep, but so far everything I’ve seen them bring to the boat has only been in the two to three pound range. They’re probably catching more fish, but smaller ones.

This is what fishing is all about, spending time with family and friends. The great fishing is a nice bonus too!

Onlintx, you're right, that is what fishing is all about.

I use to have a real strange work schedule. I only got one weekend off a month, and my other days off during the month fell on those so called normal work days, (Mon. through Fri.). Therefore I use to do a lot of fishing on those normal work days by myself and it sucked when there was no one around to talk to or share the excitement of catching some good fish with. But then again, the benefits of fishing lakes during the week days was the fact that there was no pressure on the lake, and you could fish any shore line that you chose to fish by yourself with no other boat in site. For the last year or so, I have no longer gone by myself that much. I have a lot more fun catching fish with others such as family member, a friend or even a person that I have never met before, but invited to go. But fishing has always been one of my number one obsessions in life and it will probably remain that way till the time comes when I may no longer be able to do so due to health issues.

Re: Fayette 12/12/09

Great day. Dad and I plan to go tomorrow. We've been catching good #s out deep but I think it is time to try a few shallow areas, especially if there are bigger fish in there. Our last trip a few weeks ago, we caugh 43 fish, about 30 of them were caught in water 8-15'. About 15 of those 30 were less than 15" long. Would love to catch a handful on top waters. Isn't 1 fish blowing up on a topwater better than 2 fish on a worm?

One thing I noticed on this last trip is that the Tilapia are beginning to make their beds. So it probably won’t be too much longer before those bass start bedding up as well.

Looking back on my post when I took my daughter out fishing, I noticed she took one snap shot where I was kneeling down removing a hook from a fish by the console and you can see the water temp on my depth finder, 77 degrees.

This is why we didn’t take very many pictures on this fishing trip. I asked my uncle to take a picture of this fish, and even showed him how to operate the camera several times, and he cut my head off in every snap shot he took. I just put the camera up and never got it back out. But at least he got the fish.

Re: Fayette 12/12/09  just posted 1 pic

I hear ya Bill. Yeah, that fish pic was my first catch of the day. But after looking at the 3 pics he took and only one of them had part of my face in it, I decided to put the camera away for the day and just fish.

I had to move around a bit to get on some good ones though. The bigger fish were caught in 2 foot of water.
