Man was it slow. After four hours of fishing I finally hooked a dink. One bite, one fish. I worked the shore line, the discharge, the intake, the rip rap, the timber and the baffle dike. I beat the shore line to death, nothing. Went to a boat slip and tied up to make some changes on all my rods and went back out. Finally I found a good bite. The fish were real deep. I ended up with twelve fish in all, two fours, two threes, two dinks and the rest were like two to two and half pounds. By this time my shoulders were killing me so I packed it up and went home. The bite started somewhere around 3pm. I was off the water around 5pm.

Slow fishing...good to know. 12 is a great day on most lakes. Our Yamama HPDI made a funny sound last time we were at Fayette near Christmas and has been in shop ever since. Good timing for the engine to crap out on us. Apparently the lower unit went out.....sooooo glad it was under warranty!

Guess we will start along some of the deeper ridges in 25 fow next time we go. Won't be long before they are up in the reeds.

I agree, on most lakes during this time of the year, even five fish is a good day. But I went four hours before I found one tap. Then I spent another two hours looking for another bite. I was just about fished out by the time I found some feeding fish. But those ten fish caught in one area made my day. The two four lb. fish is what made it all worth while. I did see a bass that looked to be in the heavy seven to eight pound range as it came out of the water while attacking a shad. I threw several crank baits at it, but the shad were only like two inches long that they were feeding on, and the crank baits that I had tied on were three to four inches long, so they didn’t touch it. I probably should have sized down on my crank baits and tied on a rattle trap or something.

A buddy and I are going today. I hope to get on some fish first thing, but you know how that can be sometimes. I'll post a report later on tonight or tomorrow morning, be it a good or bad trip. From what I've been reading, it looks like I need to head south to Falcon for a couple of days where there is some real fish to be had.
