I feel bad saying the fishing was slow and as you scroll down you will find out why.  But we only caught 21 fish between 3 people in 3 days of fishing.  However the fish we did catch were quality fish.  We caught our fish on spinnerbaits, TX rig, and jigs.  The lake is way up but we were able to find a small patch of hardwoods on the Mexican side that had several good fish on them.  We ended up with a 9, three 7s, one almost 6, two 5s, and about a dozen between 2 and 4 pounds.  I had a blast and actually beat my personal best with the 9lb 1oz that I caught.  I cant wait to go back in the early spring when these fish are spawning.

7lb 2oz

7lb 4oz

7lb 2oz

5lb 12oz

My new personal best 9lb 1oz

Nice fish. Thanks for the pics and report. Sounds like a decent report compared to what other's have been saying. Congrats on your new PB.

Way to go Kiel!

Falcon is the bomb.

James, you should really get some custom built Tilapia spinner baits from SOB. Those are killing them down there!

Those are some awesome fish and pics, congrats on the new PB!  But, just like the Austin DD it doesn't count since it came from Falcon and anyone can catch a monster from there  :p

Not sure what I would prefer, fewer but larger fish or numbers and smaller fish.  Our last road trip down there I would guess each boat easily averaged over 20 fish per day (probably more like 30).  One day we counted 20 in the first hour!  However, biggest fish the entire trip was around 6.5 lbs.

Can't wait to get back down there.  Any of those pigs come from deeper water?

Nice Fish Kiel and congrads on the new PB. I hear that those Falcon Fish fight harder than one of similar size at Fayette or Bastrop, so that 9 lb fish must have been a blast to catch. Our club is going down there in March, so I can't wait to go.

Considering how high the water is and how scattered the fish are I think I am gonna go ahead and count that one.  Besides even though the lake has big fish in it, you still have to get them in the boat.  ;D

I fished Falcon 11/28 with my bro-in-law from Laredo. Slow day for us. Fished both sides, flippin trees with plastics and DD22 Firetiger. He caught 5 ranging from 3-5 lbs and I caught 3 all under 4 lbs.

Going to try to get back down there in January to fish Falcon and Sugar.

Yeah I know. But your statement is somewhat true. I mean the first trip I ever make to Falcon I shatter my PB (which was originally a 7 on Lake Austin). Your odds are definately better down there. The other crazy thing is how hard those fish fight. I had a few 3s that I would have sworn were 6s until I got them to the boat. Unreal. You fishing Basschamps Central this year? I am heading up to Lake Travis this weekend to do some early scouting. I miss the Wednesday nighters but I love my new job down here in San Antonio. They have a Friday nighter on Medina Lake and I have been doing fairly well in that. Hopefully I will run into you and some of the other guys at Basschamps this year.
