We had our monthly Travis Bass Club Tournament for October at Falcon this past weekend.
I caught my largest bass ever on my third cast that weighed in at 11.60 and my 5 fish stringer weighed in at 34.92. I caught all of them before 8:30am. My partner also had a limit that weighed just over 20 pounds.
We were able to fish a hump that is about 600 yards off shore in the main lake and a main lake point that has rock way off shore.
I caught everyone of my fish on a 10" Power Worm in a plum color with a 5/16th tungsten weight and 17# Berkley Flo.
The best depth range 16' to 25'.
The wind got up Saturday and forced us to leave the area about 11:00am and on Sunday the wind rolled in onto us early. After the wind came up went to the very back end of the creeks and stayed in the creek channels.
Tons of small fish in the very back end of the creek channels. No size but a lot of fun when the wind pushes you off of the main lake.
I always fish way off shore don't know anything about a shallow shore line bank bite. Several of our members did catch some on a white spinner bait up tight.
Will post pictures later.
Looking for a club that fishes Falcon, Choke and Amistad on a regular basis call me. Not for money just for fun but we are affliated with TABC and fish the state tournament each year. We know the best, some what clean, and cheapest places to stay in the entire state. We also fix the best meals. Come join us! Dues $50.00 a year and that includes TABC dues.
