FAN plans to rebound from a cold and dismal Stillhouse event with the second stop of the 2010 season on Lake Buchanan.

Buchanan is primarily known for its striped and white bass fishing but also provides some great shallow water angling for those green trash fish!  The lake is up over 1005 feet msl; with the warming temperatures and longer days it should provide some excellent bass fishing by the end of February.

If you love to fish for black bass on Buch, or anywhere for that matter, be sure to come join FAN on Feb 27...it's the ONLY open trail this year that will be making a stop on Buchanan!

Andy, what do the entry fee's run on this trail I like the idea of a bass cat for the award at the championship? Also do you have to fish all events to qualify?

Entry fee per tournament is $150.00 with a $30.00 one time membership fee.

Here is some info regarding Championship qualification:

17.Championship Qualifications

The Championship will be a two day event (Friday/Saturday) with a $150 entry fee. The Anglers of the Year, the Highest Finishing Male/Female, and Adult Junior Teams by means of points will receive a free entry to the Championship Tournament. The Top 30 teams in year end points who have competed in at least 3 events will qualify for the Championship Tournament, and all teams who enter and compete in all five qualifying events in during the regular scheduled season will automatically qualify for Championship Tournament.

You missed the first event on Stillhouse so you cannot qualify by fishing all five tournaments and are behind 157 points from the team sitting in 30th place; but since there were only 33 teams at the first event there may be a scenario where you could possibly qualify if you decide to fish at least 3 of the 4 remaining tournaments.  

IE: If there were at least 4 jackpotters that fished Stillhouse and do not plan on fishing the entire trail you could still have a chance to qualify in the top 30.  Looking at the points standings there were three teams that did not show up for the meeting and forfeited their 25 points...so who knows.

Good Luck...The lake is up to 1005, but there are still trees just below the water from mid-lake to upper end...Just be carefull. Should have no problems..

Call Jeff and see if you could come to the meeting Friday night. There may be a single fisherman there that is looking for a partner for Saturday. They run a great tournament and may be able to help you find someone to fish with.

Maybe I need to call Jeff and get some help with catching fish. Most of us or still bleeding from the Stillhouse tournament. Hope Buc is better than last time. We are just now getting the shunk smell off us and our boats.

•Located off FM 2341 on the east side of the lake about mid-lake.
•Two-lane concrete ramp, usually open during periods of low water. Launch area is susceptible to a northwest wind; watch the weather.

Go 3 miles west of Burnet on Hwy 29.
Turn north onto RR 2341.  Go 12 miles.
Turn left on CR 128 (Silver Creek Drive).

Great weather, tough fishing!

43 teams with only one limit brought to the scales.  First and second were both 11 lb sacks and it took nearly 6 pounds to cut a check.
