Fished Decker from 6am to 11am.
Not a single bite.
First hour and a half was glass calm, I blamed that.
Then the wind finally picked up and I thought the bite would finally turn on. Nada.
Finally a little sprinkle, thought that would maybe turn the bite on. Nada.
Then 11:00 came around and some dark clouds rolled in and the wind started blowing over 15. Easily convincing me to head back to the ramp. It’s been awhile since I’ve had such a bad day out there.
The only thing that stood out to me that was off was that there were spotted gar EVERYWHERE along the bulrush. I’ve never seen them like this before. that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
Don’t feel bad. I was out yesterday. Launched around 5:00 am. Fished till around 10. Got 2 crappie and 1 small bass all on a squarebill. Threw the kitchen sink at ‘em. Everyone else I talked to hadn’t caught anything. Lake sucks @ss right now.
According to the internet and my own experience, the day after a full moon is typically the worst fishing day of the month. Also, according to biology and my own examination, the gar are up in the shallows spawning while the resident largemouth can only say, “Why don’t y’all get a room?”
