I've talked to a lot of people and have tried to get out and catch up with TJ and the gang.  Fished this tournament religously a couple years ago and had a blast.

Here's the problem for me, myself and the crew I fish with use these weeknight tourneys as more of a happy hour than actual competitive fishing.  It's very rare we leave the park before midnight after a weeknight tournament.

Hanging out, telling lies and trading stories while consuming iced down Cokes is a tradition and a very hard habit to break.  Since the gates at Decker close at 10 that leaves very little time for the after tourney activities.

Good luck with the tourney guys and hope y'all have a good turnout. By the way, what tournament is a good place for posers?

there is also a parking area just outside the gate to hang out at.we are just trying to get it back to what it was a few years ago.dont be offended by the poser thing, just pulling out all stops trying to get our numbers back up.we are not trying to compete with the other night tourneys.actually,i would like for them to take over decker and run it as good as they do travis and austin, get some compatition out there.it's just so much more fun winning when there is 15 or 20 boats than when there is only 5 boats. ;) if i could i would fish T and A's night tourneys also but right now due to cash flow prob's i can only fish 1 and although Travis has a place deep in my heart,Decker is just more consistant and pumps out the numbers for just about every team weekly.20 to 30 fish is the average and most of them are 2 to 4 pounds :-?.So how about it guys, just come on out ,give us a try this week since travis is out.

Let that big bass pot get to 300-400 bucks and you won't have a problem getting boats. IMO, that is what attracted the boats a few years ago.

I think the Bastrop pot is around $450 and they had 20+ boats Monday night...

I will see if I can make it this Thursday. Looking forward to it.

If more boats came the Big Bass pot would be bigger :) 20 times 5 = 100 times 3 weeks = 300. The same guys have been putting in to get it to $145.

If it is big bass money that makes it go how about a side of $20 for big bass each time? $5 goes into the pot that rolls over and $15. is just for that night. No big bass $15 refund ;)

That means 20 boats times 20 = $400 plus the $145 = $545

Anybody want to play?

I used to really enjoy fishing this TX but I just got burned out on it. You are right about it being fairly easy to catch a limit but what got me frustrated was a few of the regulars that would bring in more than their limit. If one of the fish that they were weighing in was touching 14" they just swapped it out with one of the other "extras" in their bag. I thought in most Tx that if you tried to weigh in a fish that was short you were DQ'd? I know these jackpot Tx are supposed to be fun but even when there is a little money on the line things like this will run people off. I think the TX rules and how it was ran may have run a few teams off. If things got back to normal I would consider fishing it again. Most of the guys out there are really good guys.

thank you tdub.but when i ran it back in the day we got 20 + every week we didnt have a big bass pot.TTZ killed it now they need to fix it.
I can't and won't speak for TTZ, but a lot has changed in the scene in just a few years. Money is a little tighter for a lot of folks, basically a T every day of the week to pick from in the summer months and a lot of the old crew that you used to see at these and other weekly T's around the city are totally different people now.

Having said that I might try to drag a certain person out of Decker retirement and meet up with guys tomorrow. ;D

tdub that must of happened when i wasn't running it .the only way youdo that now is if you ask for a courtesy check.just like anyother tourney.our rules are the same as most .if you dont ask for a courtesy check and try to weigh it you cannot replace it.i cannot speak on what happened when i wasn't running it but we posted on this site our rules twice this year and that is on it.is there any other things we can do or clear up.

Barring any unforeseen schedule changes, Andy and I will be out tomorrow to support the cause.  Any other ABFers want to roll out, come on with it!

Just remember the "3 4's of sucess to Decker Fishing" and pack your 40oz, your 40cal, and your 4mm bullet proof vest. :p

I can understand a courtesy check. So are you saying that if the fish you asked for a courtesy check touches 14 you are allowd to replace it with another fish? In my club TX if I have a limit of 5 and I ask for a courtesy check and that fish is short I have to throw that fish out. I am then not allowed to go back to the livewell and get another fish to replace it. So I would only be able to weigh in 4 fish. I saw some teams bringing in 6-8 fish to weigh in so they could find their heaviest 5.

Same as Bass Champs. You can only bring in 5 fish to the scales. If one of your fish is short to bad.
