Hit Decker about 5:45 Saturday morning. Got lucky the gate was already open. As we entered the park there was a sign that said park closed today. Since I wasn't using the park I figured the fishing on the lake was fine.

2nd boat on the water. Started with black hula popper and took 3 slot LM in about 10 cast. As soon as the sun peaked out the top water bite died. I was wishing I had been there an hour earlier.

Continued to fish till about 1:00 PM and tried about everything in the boat but never got into the bite again. Tried for whites and hybrids deep using pink lady with spoon trolling but not one bite. Didn't try any shad but the cove up next to the intake near the bridge is loaded with shad. Ended the day catching perch on an ultralight for fun.

Went to pull the boat out of the water and realized there were only about 5 more boats on the lake. For a Saturday on Decker that is abnormal.

I soon realized it wasn't just the park but the lake as well was closed. We just happened to get there before anyone could prevent us from getting on the water. Turns out Decker was hosting the Danskin Triathlon. Apparently the ladies were swimming the lake when we were fishing the other side.

When we were leaving the park there was some great views on the way out with all those lady triathletes around... ;)
